Description
The new Space Cam with its significantly larger image sensor delivers perfect and reliable images from the stratosphere. Sharp, crisp video recordings in 4K at 60 frames/second deliver amazing images from an altitude of up to 40,000 metres, allowing high-resolution videos of the black of space and the blue of our planet to be captured and spectacular videos to be edited together. When recording at 60 frames/second, the image stabiliser can significantly reduce possible wobbles during the flight, resulting in smoother recordings. The extreme conditions of the stratosphere demand everything from action cams: Compared to well-known manufacturers, the Space Cam is an extremely robust and reliable “space cam” at a fair price and has been put through its paces by Stratoflights in numerous test flights in the hostile environment of the stratosphere. Due to the extreme temperatures, the internal battery, as with any other action cam, does not last long enough to capture the entire stratospheric mission: In order to provide enough battery power at temperatures as low as -65°C so that the landing of the probe can also be filmed, an additional batterypack that can cope with these conditions is definitely required. The Action Cam’s screen is also ideal for checking the field of view after installation in the stratospheric probe in order to capture optimum shots from space. By using several cameras, perspectives such as the bursting of the balloon, a view of the horizon or a direct view downwards can also be captured. To prevent the Space Cam from slipping in the Styrofoam probe at wind speeds of up to 200 km/h, it can be installed in the custom-fit protective case in just a few simple steps and fixed in place easily and reliably, so that the Space Cam is also protected from overheating by the air ducts installed here and dissipates its own heat into the interior of the Styrofoam probe.
